Cattai Wetlands Coopernook
Cattai Wetlands is just North of Taree past the Harrington Turn on Spring Road. This amazing part of the NSW Mid North Coast provide a sanctuary for over 180 species of birds, kangaroos, wallabies and reptiles.
Cattai Wetlands has over two kilometres of walking track and a board walk viewing deck for bird watchers and photographers (pictured below). Now word of warning, in mosquito season you must be prepared. At the time of my visit there were swarms of them, and I carried around a can of insect repellant constantly spraying myself and still got zapped many times.
Second word of warning; it's a Wetlands so it's wet under foot! It was a rainy day when I visited and I wished I had worn shoes a little bit more protective of water than sneakers.
There is no shortage of ponds and creeks to discover.
This amazing wetlands has a lake that is filled with water lilies. The wetlands is truly a peaceful paradise except for the lovely sounds of birds and frogs.
